There are many different families with the name Pater that are of no relation. My family comes from the Amerongen area of the Netherlands and this is where we got our start. We have traced our roots to approximately 1550.
Through the use of this blog I hope to be able to further my interest and information on my family. Family members are welcome to send comments and helpful information. I will publish a limited family tree on this blog because of privacy concerns but it will be able to help you find out if you are a member of our family. We landed in the U.S. in July of 1909 and next year we will have our 100th year family reunion.
The reunions are the love and labor of Cozette (Pater) Ruzek. Between the two of us we have a common agreement, she tells me I am doing all the work and I tell her she is doing all the work. The credit does go to Cozette as she had the reunions many years before I got involved and she had a lot of the genealogy work already done. I managed to contact the Pater family in Holland and through the interpretation of their magazine “Het Paterje” and the help of Bram Pater have managed to learn a lot about our family. I combined the information from Bram and also records from the Mormon Church to fullfill the history of our family and get it in electronic form. Cozette and myself have sent many records to the Netherlands to be included in a upcoming book on the Paters of Amerongen by Bram Pater.
It seems to me the book will have over 400 pages and no pictures are in yet, so…..
At this very moment I have 8630 persons in it. Those will not all publiced as grandchildren from Mrs. Johnsen-Pater wil not be used. But people with some questions about the Johnson family, I can help. I do this hobby now for over 20 years and I am not finished yet.

Take your time Bram and do it right. Once it is published it will be hard to do it over again. Put me down for the first autographed copy of the book.
